In 1925, Gottlieb Stoll and Albert Fezer founded the Festo company, a German manufacturer of high-quality, innovative woodworking machines. Just four years later, the pair developed the first portable chainsaw, a revolutionary tool for consumers and industry alike. When the company tapped its engineering prowess to expand into industrial automation, they adopted the Festool name to refer to the original woodworking line.
